Hellooo fellow PARTY PEOPLES! Below is my best guess as to some FAQs that you may or may not ask. In the event that you ask other FAQs then I will quickly add those too! Good luck!

WHAT EXACTLY IS THIS? This is a fun, non-commercial, competition much like your annual backyard November Melbourne Cup day sweep where entrants guess who will win, put a little money on it, then scream and shout cheering their team (horse) on to victory! Monty’s competition is of course a little more sophisticated and way more fun as one can get an edge by doing a little research to increase the probability of choosing a high quality team, and it goes for 7 weeks, and it’s based upon the pride of nations sheer physical horse power and sublime skill in the theatre of Rugby Union! It’s been made for a bit of entertainment, and to enhance the excitement of the 2023 Rugby World Cup

HOW DO I ASK MONTY A QUESTION? Simply click on the “CONTACT” page and flick me a question by submitting it

WHY ENTER THIS? Cos this competition will be SO MUCH FUN watching the world’s greatest rugby union players battle it out. There will much cheering and shouting, raw human emotions, triumph and tragedy, all made WAY WAY WAY more dramatic when you have some of your own HARD COIN invested, not to mention also the excitement that you could win a a good amount of hard coin too. Oh and you then will have bragging rights where you can tell everyone how smart you are for the next 4 years! TRUST ME, THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED!!

HOW DO I ENTER THIS INCREDIBLE THING? It’s easy!

1. Simply click on the “Play the Game“ button.
2. Answer the 12 highly intelligent, strategic and fangasmic questions including your first name, surname and email address (so I can register and enter you in and potentially pay you some winnings at the conclusion of the world cup!) and click on the “Submit” button.
3. Await my confirmation email (will aim for 2-3 days max to be sent to you) which will have in it also the bank account for you to deposit the $10 entry fee per entry (or $20 for 2 or $30 for 3 entries max per person) (also if you really want to invite close friends and family for some of this fun too, then sure, just let me know who they are in your email)
4. Pay your entry fee via online transfer into the listed bank account and then BOOM you are in!
5. Await the epic start of this epic competition and the even more epic leaderboard “League of Legends” (ie YOU AWESOME INTELLIGENT ENTRANTS!!) which you will hopefully top!! (I will update this board regularly at least every week)

WHO IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO WIN THIS? Well that will come down to who has done some research of the teams, a lot of luck (admittedly), common bloody sense,  physically superior beauty, and pure unadulterated intellect (way way above average)

HOW DO I WIN? by being the most astute and physically superior (and lucky) specimen by making the most intelligent calculations and predictions, get more of these right than the others thereby scoring the highest points (note MAX 50 points for a perfect score) and then WIN your fair share of the total prize pool (essentially 1st place highest points will receive 50% of the total entrant pool money, 2nd place 30% and 3rd place the remaining 20%)(in the rare event of a draw, please refer to the rules above) (also I’ve just decided, any super human individuals that score a perfect 50 out of 50 will win 100% of the total prize pot money themselves because believe me they will totally be deserving of that!)

BONUS POINTS-ARE THESE AVAILABLE TOO? Well YES as a matter of fact! If for the first 3 placed teams you picked correctly 1, 2, or 3 of them BUT NOT in the correct order then for each one you will earn 5 BONUS POINTS–YEAH!! (we like that too!). For example let’s say you thought Ireland was going to come 2nd, but it ended up coming 1st or 3rd then you will get 5 bonus points. Potentially you could accurately predict all 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed teams but in all the wrong order (eg your 1st team pick came either 2nd or 3rd, your 2nd placed team came either 1st or 3rd, and your 3rd placed team pick came either 1st or 2nd-phew!), and so get 15 bonus points-YEAH we are LOVING this too!! Note I have added in these bonus points as wouldn’t it be such a shame to have 1 or more of your teams make it to the semi finals, final and third place game only to then lose and not get any points?! So problem solved! YEAH again!

WHEN WILL I GET PAID MY WINNINGS? I’ll need a few days to process the results, send emails and pay out the winners their winnings via direct bank transfer (I will email you first and ask for your bank account details to do this which in itself could take a few days for me to get back your bank details reply email)

CAN I GET AN EDGE? Is their any system to how the questions were designed? Yes I believe so. I have deliberately attempted the “Yes or No” questions to have a roughly 50%-50% of occurring (based on my research of the various probabilities of each team based on their skill levels-all highly subjective and so could be wrong). However there is a high chance my research is not perfect, therefore the probabilities are most likely to be on a range from 40-60% (or even more) so it’s up to you the entrant to calculate/guess. Predicting how good teams are, and more so how good they will be during this tournament, is a very difficult thing to quantify so ultimately the more astute entrant (including those that wisely use the provided “Group tables” and “Schedule” to predict reasonable outcomes throughout the tournament) should get an edge over those who are less astute (eg random guessers), and have a better chance of taking home some coin.

WHAT DO I RECOMMEND FOR YOU TO DO TO GET AN EDGE? Well first you should use the provided resources (under my tab “TEAMS AND SCHEDULE”), imagine the games playing out in order, guess who will win which games (highly suggest you do a quick bit of Google research first as to which teams are ranked to win over other teams-Google has ALL the answers if you look hard enough!), projecting this out and seeing this through to the FINAL, then double check your choices. Then answer the questions in keeping with your best prediction! Also make sure you read my questions carefully, especially when it has in it “AND/OR” or similar terms in it to be clear you understand it. Note that I HAVE NOT tried to trip you up. Rather I have tried to make it as simple and what-you-read-is-what-you-get as possible.

IS A DRAW THE SAME AS A WIN? NO!!! (a win is a win, a draw is a draw, the two being very different so keep this in mind when giving your answers)

WHAT IF I CAN’T DECIDE ON AN ANSWER? Don’t overthink it, just put a team down that sounds cool and just use your gut to choose “Yes” or “No” then grab your popcorn, go into your wide screen TV/cinema room, turn the TV on and speakers up to LOUD (with boom box subwoofers) because now you are in RUGBY HEAVEN, oh and start praying like hell you guessed right!

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I ENTER THIS? Well firstly you can invite as many friends and family as you want who you think would find this competition fun (within reason of course, as long as it ain’t an extreme number like 100 extra people to avoid this thing becoming bigger than Ben Hur!). Also EACH person can submit up to 3 answer submissions ($10) each (for a total of $30) (I’m thinking of doing this myself!)

DOES MONTY HAVE AN ADVANTAGE? Well yes but more likely no being the better answer. Let me explain:  being the designer of this competition, Monty will have a better feel for the nuances you could say, so will have a bit of an advantage there. However all the information he has gotten to formulate his answers is all publicly available online via google so if one researches more than him, that smart cookie will have the advantage. Also we are all taking a big guess here as to the outcome of many sporting events which at the best of times is extremely difficult to do accurately given all the infinite variables and the fact that these are all changing constantly. So no meaningful advantage for Monty here.

DOES MONTY MAKE ANY PROFIT OUT OF THIS? Well ONLY if he wins fair and square by scoring the highest points! Otherwise this competition is a completely NON commercial, NON profit (but FUN) exercise for Monty. In fact he loses money as he is paying for the domain name! (not to mention the time and energy building this website-but it’s all good as it’s totally worth it for this fun project). 100% of the Entrant fees go into the total prize pool and 100% will be fairly paid out to the deserved winners in the 50%-30%-20% proportions described above (I will also add that in the three previous 2018 FIFA World Cup+2019 Rugby World Cup+2022 FIFA Football World Cup competitions, I didn’t win a cent!)

WHEN IS THE LATEST I CAN ENTER THIS? I’m going to give you all as much time as possible to ponder over the best answers you can come up with, and so your 12 answers and entry fee must be received no later than kick off of the first game of the Rugby World Cup 2023 absolute blockbuster opening game between country host France vs the mighty All Blacks on Saturday September 9th at 05:15 Australian Eastern Standard Time!
